REDLINE CROSSBAR

Post by ONEBADBUG »

Putting together a Redline set of Weber 44 IDF's and the hexbar is too long by about an inch.
Sound familiar to anyone?

Hi OneBadBug,

This usually happens when the manifolds are cast for a too-wide or too-narrow stance.

Older Weber 48 IDA (also used for IDF's) manifolds typically had more outwards slant. Somewhere along the line, some smart individual figured out by casting the manifolds with less slant, they fit better in Type 1 engine compartments.

I have a spare few of the newer ones here but no older wide style. They're light and easy to mail ...

Making something shorter is easy! Just thought I would ask before cutting. The whole kit is Redline, so foolish me, thought it should work.

Manifold should be sold as “Fresh Air” or “Stale Air” to describe how they fit against the shroud...but I don't think vendors actually use the parts they sell.

With that much difference I suspect they sent you the wrong one, a almost universal, we have never heard of anyone having a problem, take it to a certified installer, deal with it punk.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

VW engines can be a lot of different widths, depending on the cc's of the engine -- I think it is easier to send something out too long vs. something too short
