1970 Bug with autostick

Post by Stray Catalyst »

So, in my quest for a car that I could afford, and yet could still have a chance of being a roadworthy vehicle again, I found a $400 field find. Green, it's got startlingly little rust but a lousy, mousy interior. 1600SP (not DP) very stock, down to and including the Sapphire radio.

I've never driven an autostick before.

Yesterday I did a lot of work - fixed the seats, cleaned up the one rusty spot (all the windows leak, from bad gaskets), charged the battery, got it started, and drove it around the yard a bit. I've ordered four new tires, and as soon as they arrive, I'll register the car and start driving it.

Not too long before the PO stopped driving it, they got it resprayed, and it's stunning how solid the car is - floors, jack points, and heater channels are all solid!

You've got a nice straight little ride there that I'm sure you'll enjoy for years to come. LOVE the auto-stick Bugs.. they are unique and something anybody can drive.. regardless of whether or not you're skilled with a clutch.. Have fun!
