I have a Bocar and had it for years. Make sure you get one with the C clips on the pin.

Go to http://www.ebay.de/
And enter:
1973 Käfer Kraftstoffpumpe
or
PIERBURG 7.02242.43.0 KRAFTSTOFFPUMPE BENZINPUMPE VW
or
VW 181 KAEFER TRANSPORTER T2 15 Cabriolet,Bus,Kasten » PIERBURG KRAFTSTOFFPUMPE
It looks like the shorty fuel pump that fits under the alternator. But then it might not fit.
Here is another I would choose first:
http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Fue ... try_GB.htm
It is described to fit underneath the alternator.
I was using a silver Bocar just like the one in the pic above.
It lasted a little over 600 miles which was a little over two years of driving for me.
Then it started leaking gas through the little hole on the front side onto the driveway.
Last month, July 2012, I installed another. It was the very same type. a silver Bocar fuel pump that I had bought for a spare.
Today it started leaking gas onto the parking lot. When I got it home I clamped the fuel hose going to the fuel pump with a pair of Vice Grips.
Today I ordered one of these:
http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Fue ... try_GB.htm
and 10 petrol hose clips 5mm I.D.
I will let you know how it works out.

It performed really well. The fuel leak is still present. It leaks most right after the engine has been turned off.
I think the leak is under the left rear wheel well area.
I think I was wrong about the two silver Bocar fuel pumps that I mentioned.

Re: What is the best fuel pump for alternator to get?
When I first noticed that leak my first impulse was that the leak was under the left rear wheel well area. The next morning when I got around to fixing it, for some reason I was sure that the leak was caused by a defective fuel pump.
After I installed two fuel pumps and the leak was still there,
I changed the stock 5 mm I.D. fuel hose that was under the left rear wheel well area to a
Gates® - Fuel Injection/MPI Hose
Part # 27094 1/4 Inch I.D.
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detai ... word=27094 .
This is a multi-fuel hose. I also think it will last longer than a stock hose because it is made better. I do not want to have to change the fuel hose under the Beetle every 3 years.
I also used special F.I. hose clamps that do not cut into the hose.
In the engine compartment I decided to continue using the stock braided German 5 mm I.D. hose because I like the looks and it is easy to change there.

Remember to get a fuel pump rod to match the fuel pump. When I got my off-set fuel pump for an Alt I was told this by several people so I took their advice and had had no problems since then.
