I want to replace my fan.
I have a stock engine.
Would it be better to go ahead and get a welded & balanced race fan?
TIA! 1600 btl

The option is yours. The race fan is is a good way to go if you think you need it. The stock fan is is also more than adequate for a stock engine at about half the price of a race fan. Is there any paticular reason why you're considering this change? I don't think a stock engine will turn the kind of RPM's that would require a race fan. Like I said, it's your choice.

I was thinking that my stock fan is about 40 years old and wanted to replace it to save possible troubles.ainokea wrote:The option is yours. check around the hub for small cracks, check for loose fins, put it on the gen and spin it, does it wobble? If no to everything, it is probably OK, if any issues, replace it. Unless you plan high rpm, the welded and balanced fan is probably not worth the extra bucks.
