I make lots of stuff. e.g. gears and gearboxes.crankwalk wrote:

930/Ferrari = same part.RonW wrote:So this is Subaru to Ferrari cv joint flange? Nice. So todd makes flanges VW, Porsche 930, Ferrari 308 axles, anything else ?
But flange wise now engineering VW Syncro tailshaft flanges.

OK, so here's where I'm at now. I got the subarugears flanges then some mount templates and locker and plate from coldwater 914. I cobbled it together last night but I'll have figure something out for the frame of the car. I need to cut and weld a portion of it to have the trans sit back far enough.

Re: FUBARU, Stirarri? 76 308 GT4 -turbo Subaru power project
It is! I got some mounts and some odds and ends from coldwater 914. It should be covered by the muffler anyway. I pulled the motor back out and tried to lay out the transmission but the frame is in the way. I don't really know any other way to get the right angle on the axles other than to weld a bar above where the back of the transmission hits then cut that out.ttriebler wrote:ewww... that is one ugly looking plate

Take a look at how we shorten the Subaru transmissions on my website.
If you do it that way you would gain a fair few inches of room to be able to move your transmission backwards, get your axles straight and not have to cut up your chassis.
TY754 center differential housings are easier to cut down and weld up than the TY752 you have there but it is all do-able.

Re: FUBARU, Stirarri? 76 308 GT4 -turbo Subaru power project
I saw that and it's an awesome suggestion but if I have to cut something, I'd feel more comfortable with this square tubing that I can see all of rather than my expensive transmission. I'm a wuss like that. My thinking is weld a few pieces above where I need to cut by about 8 inches. Then take out that bar that is sitting on the back plate.ttriebler wrote:Take a look at how we shorten the Subaru transmissions on my website.

I have stared at the pictures I have of the white car and I can't figure out what he did about it (and he hasn't emailed me back since August)

Re: FUBARU, Stirarri? 76 308 GT4 -turbo Subaru power project
Some additional progress today. Had some buddies over to help out and I got the rear frame welded up and cut to make room for the trans. Then We set everything in there to mock it up hopefully for one of the last times. I still need to refresh myself on the transmission clutch fork procedure. I remember I had to remove it to separate them but I don't know the best way to put it back on (its been a few months). Everything is just about the right angle but I made it a goal to have the motor and trans IN at the same time before the end of the year. A good enough milestone for me. Happy New Year you guys!

So here's a dumb question, Where is a good place to buy these 12 bolts for the 930 axle flanges? It seems they're sort of a weird length. Thanks!
Edit, also here are a couple picture from the most recent work this weekend. I got the trans attached to the motor again, everything is at the right height dimension wise and I just need to weld in the mounts. Also test fit of the stock 350Z muffler.

Just need about 7 inches of metal to connect mounts to the frame.
I got the axles hooked up today with the 930 turbo bolts and replaced some circlips and I don't know why that feels like such a milestone but it just means it will work. Angles lining up and wheels spinning just makes a good picture in my head.
Video of me just turning the wheel and spinning the axles.

Any experience with any off the shelf shifter cables kits?

Re: FUBARU, Stirarri? 76 308 GT4 -turbo Subaru power project
Fueling question for those with JDM wrx motors:
Walbro 255 and a 5 gallon RCI fuel cell. -6 an line from the cell to the pump and then fittings for the feed and return to do 3/8 lines. I want to find something to just convert them down to 5/16 if possible but anyway....
I'll have just one feed with this setup and I'm not sure how to run it from here with the two feeds to the rails. Any suggestions? Thanks
Got some mounts tacked up and i'm not too far away from firing this thing up.

Re: FUBARU, Stirarri? 76 308 GT4 -turbo Subaru power project
A buddy came over today and dug in to this wiring with me. I mostly just stood around as he zipped around the car splitting looms and tracking wires. Fast forward a few hours and a new battery later and the motor is spinning. Still no spark but it's close (I may have cut some wires on the Subaru that powered the ignition). And the best part is the starter is spinning because of the connector on the ignition harness not just running power straight there. SO, power is energizing the harness and doing what it needs to do. Whew a lot of the hard stuff is being accomplished slowly but surely.

Re: FUBARU, Stirarri? 76 308 GT4 -turbo Subaru power project
Anybody have any ideas on what I should check with the wiring if I can get the starter to work but no spark? Some sort of Immobilizer or...?
Also I have played with the tailshaft and tried to get this thing into neutral but everytime I hit the starter the axles move a little. So my other question is how to get this thing into neutral?
Thanks for the responses.

The axles may be moving just due to the friction of gear lube. My formula vee will roll the tires when it's in the air and in neutral. You can stop both wheels though so it is in fact in neutral.

I had to come in to work early as I'm relying on my Fianceé for a lift,
Alternator gone in my e39 530d BMW.
So, I decided to read your thread in full.
Good Man yourself, Great Project.
The 308 is one of my Favourite cars ever,
I love what you are doing here.
I wish you good luck,
Some day, If I ever finish my Diesel Split Bus.
I'd like to shove a 3.0 Turbo Diesel BMW engine into a Ferrari 308,
Close to 200bhp as standard and 288 ft.lb of Torque.
Nevermind my pipe dreams.
Keep doing what your doing, I love it.
