Hi Ron,

The fan belt slips at about 6000rpm and up (I forget the actual starting point) as the air resistance to the fan is that much.

A cog belt will continue to drive the fan past 6k, but it will eat considerable power to do so.

If your problem is throwing belts, that's another story.

You've asked this before. What other info are you looking for?

To over simplify, cog belts have a lot of weight/mass to them so as they spin faster they want to arc out where they should be straight from one pulley to another; this means you get less contact where they are supposed to go around the pulleys. There is a lot of other dialog that could be added but I tried to keep it simple. They are good for some things, not for others.

Not a problem. Remember, from experience: Geritol can be habit forming! :P

I still run a vee belt on all my engines, 2276, 2054, 17776, as stated the belt needs to slip, i cannot see the need for all the other types of belt systems that are being marketed as a improvement at the moment, just something else to go wrong.

I think I have talked myself out of the cogged belts and serpentine belts. I am going to stay with the v-belt. However, I am going to a power pulley. gonna get me a few extra belts to put in the spare parts racing box.
