1300cc vs 1200cc

Post by monkslayer »

Hi all.I read that the bore on 1200cc piston is the same as that of a 1300cc piston.I am rebuilding an engine and need to replace the rings,is there a problem if I place 1300cc piston rings on a 1200cc piston?

Rings are normally sold by bore & width, not stroke.
So I would worry about if I need "big bore rings" and they came in a stock 1300c box. The bently tells you wear limits and gap desired.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

As a rule, 1200 rings are 2.5x2.5x4mm and 1300 rings are 2x2x4mm...so you should be able to interchange the oil rings, but the compression rings most likely will be the wrong width.
