First Timer
I had bought an engine to rebuild for my car thinking it was 1835 but it ended up being a 1641 so we started fresh with a different case and built a 1915. I still have every part from the 1641 so I want to try my hand at building an engine. I have a dual relief case with dual port heads and all the pistons and everything. The crank and everything look I be in good condition. I don't plan on pushing a lot of horsepower. I just want to build a reliable gas sipper. What do I need to buy to rebuild this engine?

Re: First Timer
So u rebuilt a 1914 but don't know how to build a 1641? Or u had the 1914 built for you?
Either way you may want to have the heads checked out, the case measure, new bearings, crank polished, new pushrods tubes, engine seal kit etc...
Mainly, get it all taken apart and cleaned. Than u can take it to a machine shop and see what they have to say about the case and crank.

I mainly watched and did a couple little things while i was trying to finish up on my baja. The guy building it was a guy we race with who we call "The Professor" for his extensive knowledge. I will do a bunch of reading in the stickies above.
Should I use the stock cam or can I do a mild upgrade on the cam?

Re: First Timer
Upgrade. You have to match the cam to the rest of the motor.
Have you made any progress on this build?
