hi al i am ruben from holland and i'm doing a wbx as a back up motor for my buggy witch has a type 1 1641 at the moment.
i was always facenated by the wasser i guess because the big displacement out of the box.
im planning on doing a 2.1 with 1.9 pistons and the trick of turning douwn the crown of the pistons to atcheve a bit more comp.
as we in europe have good octane ratings and e85 on its way i'd want to use that to get a bit more effinciency out of the brick.
i've got nearly all the parts i need exept the 2.1 crank and the camshaft.
i wold like to keep the hydro's cuz of the quiet running they give + it might end up as the primary mode of transport for a while
at the moment im heading for a 1=11.2 static comp but my local bug place tels me thats way to hig for 98 roz.
(thow the're not used to water cooling witch wil help contoling temps a bit)
as im planing on running the stock piburg e2 or the 40 idf's from the t1 with 98 roz id guess the VE is not going to be inmense so that would give me a bit more room for comp and maybe later lpdi injection with the resulting better VE wold give a efficient lpg motor.
for now the motor is intended for my 600 kg buggy but it migt find its way into a offroad buggy or even a 914 or t3 in combination with lpg
