Big transmission score

Post by 3literboy »

So, I guess you shoptalk fellas feel too eletist to respond to 3literboy..Anyways, just scored on a 1985 rebuilt vanagon trans with new sincros, sliders, and a .77 4th gear for $800.

Then I canned the wasserboxer stroker idea and decided to install the Subaru SVX 3.3 liter. Kennedy will change my stage 3 228mm clutch assembly to a stage 2, and I purchased a gob of parts from Partsgeek.com. So, new brakes, new brake lines, axleshafts, new clutch, new clucth hydraulics, and a 30,000 mile SVX motor in my 1981 Westfalia. The SVX already has SDSEFI, so it will only take a little to install it.

I also scored on some "Metal leve" type 4 bearings for the Oxyboxer. Jennings quoted $2000 for the oxyboxer work. Between Brothers machine and Rimco, I had it done for $900. Gary at Rimco will be done with my oxyboxer case in just a few days. It will have the 2.2 chrysler bearing conversion for $100 bucks less than Rocky Jennings too. I also ordered my clearanced chilled billet cam from Scat for $49.00 shop price (316 advertised, 274 effective at .050). In addition, a new set of 6.352 3/8 rod bolt Hbeams, cam bearings, and .020 under clevite rod bearings..

I may do the wasserboxer 96mm by 80mm later or a 90mm by 96mm 5.180 rods
