I am about to buy and then build a new motor using a brand new magnesium case using most of the innards of my 1500/1775 which are all in great shape- I will however be buying a new oil pump, a new dizzy drive gear and using my SVDA dizzy.
As I don't want to change my modified cam shaft, I would like to know how to change to a 1600 oil pump so itwill it be compatible with my 1500 camshaft and 1500 crank shaft in the new case, or will I have to change the crankshaft drive gear? Or to simpllify matters - would a 1500 oil pump fit the new 1600 case?
I believe that the 1500 and 1600 dizzy drives are the same.
Advice anyone?

I think the determining factor on which oil pump to use will be weather or not the cam is flat or dished.
Better wait until Mark or aussiebug answers.

I think Jim Ed that only someone who has done this already could answer the questions. Someone who has already put the guts of a 1500 motor in to a 1600 case using the parts as described. You know "Been there done that".
Thanks anyway.

Actually you could use a 1500 pump in a late case (with an early "flat", or "3-rivet" cam) - the passages are smaller, so you'd want to port the pump to match the case.
Better, though, to use the right pump. 1970 and early 1971 1600s came with the flat cam, so the large-passage pump intended for them is correct/readily available - it's what "everyone" uses with a large-passage case and flat cam.

Marc thanks.
I really don't want to change the crank or cam if possible so I will go with the large passage pump and if I can use the flat cam then I won't have to change anything.
Incidentally Aircooled emailed me this..."Just make sure the oil holes line up, and the drive tang depth is .225-.275".
Marc thanks.
