Rear Apron Install

Post by harryset »

When is the best time to install the rear apron tin? Before or after installing the engine.

Does the apron gasket go over the tin, or under the tin?

On my '67 bug the gasket is V-shaped and the tinware goes between the V. I don't recall whether installing engine first or second made any difference.

Definitely, install the engine first.
Best practice to remove the rear tin before pulling the engine, also.

Thanks, I think that's how I remember seeing them. I've had this car for a little short of 30 years and it's never had all of the tin installed.
