VW 091 Hayabusa Adapter
A few pics of something I've been working on for some time. It is nearing final testing and seems to be up to the task of pushing a 2000 pound sand car with a 200+HP turbo Hayabusa engine. Use the busa dog style 6 speed for primary shifting duties and the 091 as an over/under drive unit. I love it.

It does a fine job keeping up with the boosted 4 cyl.turbo subies that are similar but a bit lighter. I'm pretty happy with it. Add another 10 pounds boost to a turbo motor and I'll be very happy.

Any more pics of this car? Specifically the conversion plate that mounts the busa engine to the vw tranny or of the engine bay of the car.?

Re: VW 091 Hayabusa Adapter
There have been a few changes since those pics were taken. I'm sorry I don't have updated pics. The unit has proven reliable with the addition of a Vascomax 250 material input shaft. The Vasco material is a couple notches above even 300M. If there is any interest the units would be available. Haven't spent any time nailing down a price tho.

That's very slick, it's making be have Bad Ideas again about building an Atom-ish rig using the spare 914 suspension bits I have.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

6x4=24 you could have a hya x 091 major mountain bike gearing.

One set of gears for the AX course, and another for the drive home.

Re: VW 091 Hayabusa Adapter
My thinking exactly. All gears in the 091 are Weddle, non stock ratios. At least in 3rd and 4th the 091 can handle the torque multiplication of the busa in 1st and full throttle in deep sand.Car weighs in excess of 1800 pounds.

I haven't pushed the 091 hard in first or second though.

Reverse will always be the achilles heel in any of these vw trans including the side shift 094. With the 4.56 gear theoretical top speed is approx 90 mph.

That's awesome. I have a group of guys from the Vegas area that have Busa powered rails with VW gearboxes. They seem to be holding up well.
