New Cip1 carb.

Cip1 is advertising an all new 34 pict 3 carb (CIC13-98-1289-B - TOP QUALITY - 34 PICT-1 CARBURETOR WITH 12V CHOKE)aprox $150 as better than the Brosol etc. Unfortunately they don't mention the brand.

Hope it's not an Empi as my last Empi was a piece if garbage and I even had to shave the base way down to stop it leaking.(yes it definately was the base!)

Does anyone know what make these new carbs, are and what do they think of the quality?

Sideshow I did not see that particular picture.I still don't know if it really is a "new" in 2010 carb or not. Maybe Cip1 could explain-I am sure they read STF.

It is all a crap shoot. I doubt every claim of CIP's web page starting at first line; the part number, to the last line; the offer of tech support.

China has a space program, however EMPI hates us. Nobody even especially EMPI has any idea of how good or bad this clone is.

A carburetor especially a knock off on an inexpensive 1970's design isn't that hard to make work, but one is still entirely on their own because that is only one small part of your entire vehicle combo. At best that is a somewhat universal replacement part that the end user has to tweak to fit.

This is what delivers gas and air to the engine. It would take a book to explain all of the symptoms of a bad carburetor. A simple check is to use a mirror and a flashlight to see if fuel is dripping onto the butterfly while the engine is idling. If it's dripping then there is a good chance it's bad. Another check is with the motor off, grab the throttle arm down where the butterfly shaft is and see if it moves back and forth. Again if it moves, the shaft is worn out and you should think about replacing it.

I put the Euromax from Cip on my new install. I haven't run it yet. If it makes any difference, I read bad things about every VW carb ever made, except full rebuild Solex. As was said, it's a crap shoot.

I put in one of these Euromax 34-3 carbs on my 1600 earlier this year... It worked great after I backed out the idle jet about an 1/8 of a turn and locked it in place. The throttle shafts are nice and tight at least.
