That is a gear reduction transmission case, the gussets above the ring an pinion are for the stresses that are from running the finial drive backwards.

It should be better than stock with GRB's or a middle engine setup.

The Rhino is also the only factory case with enough ribbing along the bottom to allow a functional through-bolt. No other location will perform the task of holding the left hand side cover firmly in place during moments of ring gear deflection.

Thanks for the input,,sideshow,Glenn and Pablo.

Through-bolt looks like a great option.

Is that a 8mm or 10mm bolt? It's just a chromolly head stud right?

That's a 10mm ARP 2000 head stud, but OE 8mm head studs will probably do the job.

Pablo, besides the pinion through bolt, I noticed that the top two and back two studs can be drilled and through bolted with little to no interferance.

Any harm in doing these  / What's your thoughts on this.

Side cover lift-off is occurring directly adjacent to the single exterior through-bolt shown in the photo. I'm certain that there's no benefit whatsoever to any other bolt location (even though the mod may look impressive).

As you know, the left-hand side cover (right side of the photo) is only to illustrate why the cheapo covers cannot be used ... a "full circle" cover is required.
