Basic Torque Specs

Post by pkdmslf »

I got tired of having to keep grabbing the book and looking up a torque spec so I made a list that I could have outside with me. Could laminate it to make it last longer. I pulled these from the "Idiot's Guide".

Many of those wrench sizes haven't been used since the 36HP (and some never existed) but the torque specs are OK.
I use the VW workshop manual "Without Guesswork"
1969 edition:
http://oacdp.org/pdfs/wog69.pdf
1972 edition:
http://oacdp.org/pdfs/wog72.pdf

Note: Type 3 fan/pulley bolt to crankshaft is 94-108 lb-ft, much higher than Type 1 even though the cranks are identical.

Thanks. I could have used those bolt thread listings a couple of weeks ago. It would have saved me a trip or two to the auto store to get the right size.
