I had noticed nothing. When we were fueling at BFG pits one of the guys looking over the car said it didn't seem right to him. Our chase guys were not familiar enough to know any better. So rather then get out ourselves we stopped again with the Mexican chase crew and they said there was some grease pushing out the boot but other them that it was fine. Guessing BFG guy seen grease and the grabbed axle and thought the axle plunge was due to a bad CVLeatherneck wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 6:36 am So what made you think your CV was going out? I’m going to get some Eggs and toast.

Ha! I am not going to Ensenada for NORRA unless I am racing it.
No plans for anybody from my team to do it this year. Still on my bucket list to do with The Queen but not in the cards quite yet.

Re: Central WA Baja
Drove The Queen to a big car show in Western Washington yesterday. 90 miles each way, Interstate-90 for 45mi and some back roads and small hwys the rest. Big show being 400+ cars and A LOT of people. All awards presented were by vote from participants and public viewers. Felt pretty good to bring home a piece of hardware awarded by the people. Beat out some very nice vehicles, some purpose build show rigs and a few bad to the bone purpose built crawler rigs and some nicely outfitted jeeps. Entering the show I was given some interesting looks by an old curmudgeon in an all stock oval bug haha maybe he meant nothing by it and it was my imagination. Honestly I think he won an award for best stock foreign car. FWIW the Peoples Choice award went to a VW bus. For sure the peoples love affair with VW's is alive and well.
Did I mention that there was A LOT of people?
Because the car need a full prep to get back in the dirt, I had decided early in the year that I was going to do car shows with her this summer. The first 2 were rained out so I think I have ended up doing 5 total. At each one, my goal is to get as many kids into the drivers seat of the car as possible and give them a sticker. So never mind that "DO NOT TOUCH THE CAR" on the sign. I am like yes, please crawl all over it!
So in my office now resides a trophy for winning my class in a desert race, winning my class in a car show voted on by the people and a sponsors Best in show trophy.
All done with the same car.
So is she a Trailer Queen? A Prom Queen? A Car Show Queen? Or a Race Car?

You did better than I thought you had interest in doing originally and... good job and thanks for posting a lot of what you did on STF. This is past EGO, and more like comfort for the whole job!
Very proud of you and what you have done.

Re: Central WA Baja
So.....what tools do you pack with you on the trail?
This has been an interesting exercise. With the exception of my rear trailing arms ( note to self add copious amount of anti-seize to rear pivots bolts) I have attempted to dismantle this entire car to this point with only tools carried within the car. (Not including jack and jaks stands) All front steering, hubs, brakes, ect, rear hubs, CVs axles ect worked strictly out of the tool roll or storage bags contained in the car. It's something I have wanted to do for a while but have not had the discipline especially in the comfort of the shop. I guess I would have to exclude the cherry picker for engine removal too, but you get the point. The list of items I need to add to the carry tools is actually pretty short.

CW, since your toy is partly naked, could you take pix with a view of the side of your cage from the floor to the top of the seats and the front of the cage to the rear hoop. I am still stuck on my black buggy for safety on roll overs and side hits. I have seen some of it in the pix you have posted but not clearly enough to see what of it I can use. The body is for looks only so it will need that some additional support especially for the front fenders, but for now it is the cage to the pan et al I am more concerned about.
