Yes, you would be surprised how well made todays cars are compared to the older ones.
You would think those big ole chrome bumpers would help you out. But that's not the case.
I work in the autobody world and you would be amazed what you see. This is a very good example of it.

while very true of most cars, I would like to poitn out the sheer amount of rust shooting out from that poor bel air. at 59 seconds in you can see a huge puff of the stuff escapeing where the heater channel would be had this been a bug. and all around the front end is a cloud of rust.
yes modern cars are safer, but ever since that hyped up vanagon video gaves bays a bad rap, I have been annoyed at these things.
