Well, everyone else has a build thread, so I guess I need to put all my misc. crap one place...
Anyway, working on mocking up my new exhaust so that I can build an engine cage to suit it:
It's an A-1 built Beetle 1-5/8" heaterbox Sidewinder...I made extension pipes to push it further back because I plan on running Type III engine tin (whole other battle)... I picked up some 2.5" U-bends from the muffler shop to go along with a Magnaflow Resonator and three chamber muffler.

Upright AND pancake? Must have a story behind that one!
It's just a nasty old core engine that I tossed in for mock-up - and the Type III cooling is just resting on the exhaust system...
I just needed to make some sort of exhaust that should work down the road with a pancake engine...I'll be making the engine cage so I can use single/dual carb setups, upright or flat cooling, deep sump or without, a std baja header, and heaterboxes or J-tubes.
Engine cage has put this project on the back burner for way too long...I don't like off the shelf stuff.
Chris if you do run a t-3 motor please know that a sand seal is even more important than on a t-1. That cooling fan wants to blow everything right into the gap at the crank, of course the screw threads want to drive it into the small bearing.
That is going to be a tail dragger, why not mount as much as you can over the type-3 blower? In theory that is also a dead area on an upright.
Any science behind the multiple mufflers?
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

It'll probably live 99% of its life on pavement...should I ever make it a play toy I guess I'll swap to an upright or tread lightly.

I'll be making some sort of fresh air scoop for the cooling system and figure to leave over the top a possibility - I don't like exhaust burns
Even worse is I need it to double as my Bay Window from time to time...so that means it's got to haul a lot of equipment and pull a trailer - So I've got a hitch going on the back and a Thule cargo box...I might need to put a back-up camera on the thing.
The resonator/muffler - Because I want it to be somewhat quiet
I've got the stuff to put together an engine that's easier described as close to Glenn's.

You're correct, that's why I'll be making a fresh air scoop...I'm also planning on Jet Hot coating the exhaust and using some thermal barrier material.
Nice looking exhaust Chris! I like the layout. I'm not a fan of "off the shelf" stuff either. I looked at a couple Thule trailers too. There's a place on NE 8th in Bellevue with a pile of them they can't get rid of. They look like nice units. I hope to some day be towing a small trailer behind my Baja also, just not sure what kind yet.
I actually have had all this stuff (below) for quite some time, when money is good there's no time to work on anything...I'm like a squirrel collecting nuts. I really like your stuff turbobaja, your exhaust is beautiful too; like your fuel tank, bumpers, skid plates, etc
Oh, thaaaaat kinda Thule trailer. I hadn't even thought about using something like that. Looks like a good bit of added trunk space! And it's still easy to back up. Cool!

Well, I bought 40' of 1-1/2" today and got the main rear hoop bent - went with (4) 45* bends as I think it's a tad fancier looking than a pair of 90*'s - I also got the frame horn extensions bent up I did an offset (2 bends) from under the pushrod tubes down below the header, then an ~80* bend somewhat following the roll in the oval muffler...with a slight ~13* kick to the main hoop. I also rolled them outward so it's sort of V-shaped when viewed from the back.
...then I got side-tracked and welded some exhaust cats into an RX-7.
