Joxracing's 1966 Baja "The Resurection"

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Joxracing's 1966 Baja "The Resurection"

Post by Joxracing »

Heres my baja, bought it last summer for $500 big ones, when i was 13.
Now im 14 and have Half painted it (cuz of the weather) and hardly any thing is done to it  I plan to weld on my lightbar to my front bumper, and make me another light bar for the rood (maybe), Put my new beam in from KCNAZ(thanks alot!!!) and put som gas shox on it.
its a 1600 dp, when i get some doe, it'll turn into a 1641. Swingaxle/Bj car, i dont think its gonna matter becouse this bugs 31" tires are never gonna leave the ground. Its gonna be set up for mud, dirt roads, fields and swamps and snow. thats about all i got so far, here are some pics (the ones in blue are when i just rolled it off the trailer) Oh and this is not gonna be street legal.

Thanks for showing us, looks like the body is sound, kinda Fred Flintstone floor but they can be fixed. Looks like you have a nice place to work in. Keep the updates coming.

Hahaha, it would be a great garage, if i lived in arizona. a non heated garage in the middle of winter this far north can change hands a perty shade of red(and kinda purpleish) after a while.

That piece just to the right of the missing floor pans. Its the part the the heat flows through to get up front, I would say yes....cut yours out and practice welding that piece in.

Thats an awesome Baja, especially for a 14 year old dude who already plans on wheelin' it. My first car was a '66 Baja with a yellow and gold flake paint job. I thought it was unstopable with a stout little 1641 in it. Just don't do what I did and wreck it right after you get your license. I would recommend a cage of some kind, for a little safety  if nothing else. You've probably already got something in mind if you plan on doing some welding on your bumpers.

Good luck with your progress
