T4 36-1 trigger wheel

i was going to try to mount my ford edis trigger wheel on my DTM pulley but w/o special equipment to get it perfectly centered, i decided to go another route and look for a bolt on trigger wheel. my search came up empty so i designed my own by taking measurements off of the hub. the OD is 170mm w/ 5mm deep notches

i am going to have a machine shop laser cut this out of A36 1/8" steel

i left the missing tooth on so you could decide where you want it depending on the VR mounting location.

before i place an order for myself, i am feeling out the interest from others and if great enough, do a larger order.

Type IV Target

I manufacture this (similar) target, Type IV, for FAT.

I do not know the diameter you require ?

Also there is sensor bracket that mounts to the oil pump.

This setup is used by Wide Open Baja Tours.

I have the ability to make a "target" to the size you require,
remember I was in the small group that invented this system.

I need to make about 100 parts, to keep costs low.

Give it to us !

well, today i looked at my Ford EDIS VR to determine a mount to use w/ a trigger wheel behind the pulley and the choices are slim w/ my full flow cover on the bottom and oil lines on the d-side. that left me w/ p-side mounting. the mount adjusts up/down in/out a few mm to get it positioned perfectly at 90* later.

H.O.T.!! Wanna give up the shop that did the machining? : Thumbs Up:

i ordered 20 of them cuz there wasnt much difference in price than just ordering 1! i figured this would be something kinda kewl for the T4 community if they wanted one + help me get my investment back so pm since im not an official vendor but i think $40 shipped seems fair. i'll get mine running first to make sure all is good before i send any out

the machine shop i went thru was emachineshop.com the system works pretty kewl actually. you d/l their design software, watch there basic tutorial video make your design, assigning the matieral, the machine to make the cut/milling, the finishing then press "price" and a window will pop up telling you the cost and time and which in my case turned out to be exactly what the algorithm predicted and date it arrived! the cost was very reasonable.

Ow sure, I drew up my exhaust flanges on there to get a price. It wasn't very reasonable. Maybe because it was 3/8"? Those are nice though, good luck!

P.S. Too bad I don't have a type 4

RonW, is there anyway you can determine if this wheel will fit behind a stock fan? I'd really like to buy one of your wheels, but I'm running the stock pancake cooling.

I'll pull the shroud off this week and take a look at the fan arrangement, but if you know off hand, that would be great.

since i a not running it, i cant say for sure but based on what Rick_Eberle did i is possible but you'd likely have to take and 1/8" off of the mounting surface of the fan. but pm me since again, i am not a vendor and dont want to put off the moderators.

not that i should be surprised but wow it actually worked! at first, cranking it over, i got nothing :( started to test for power and then i realized if forgot to wire power to the coil  fixed that in a few min and cranked it over and got backfires thru each throttle body one at a time w/ the compression stroke so its just a matter of playing w/ the timing offset when i have time tomorrow

QUESTION:
1)since my vr is at 3 oclock which is 90* in front of TDC, i need to have my missing tooth 90* in from of that so at BDC, is that correct?

2)i have set my wires for 1 & 3 for coil tower A (Left hand bank as you look at the plug) and 2 & 4 on coil tower B. correct?

fj_buggy:
still havent had the chance to put one of the wheels behind a 914 fan and housing but i'll try soon.

missing tooth 90* after the VR sensor sounds about right to me:

you can also find the wiring on this site as well. can't recall what i've read.

well, it kept back firing as though it were 180* off so i switch the plug wires between the coil packs and it started right up!
