Aux heater hoses

Post by wildthings »

What have others used for replacements when the original hoses between the aux fan and the heater boxes die? I have alway presumed that the plastic hoses on my 411 were OEM hoses. Do others just go to the black paper hoses or is there some plastic hose that will fit?

Shop-vac hose is just a little too small, but could be adapted if there is nothing else available.

There is a papper covered aluminum hose that fits perfect it was a type 2 part #. I will have consult my little black book for it. It will be 10 days until I am back home. Ray

Yes, I believe that they are the exact parts as the type-2 (bus) hoses when equipped with the type-4 engine. I am currently rebuilding the type-4 engine in my Westfalia, and have purchased new ones; the bus also has the auxillary fan.

I buy my parts typically from California Import Parts, and their website shows the part numbers of 211-261-236-A for the right (which has the square end to the heater box) and 211-261-235-A for the left. These ones are the paper/foil ones, whereas my 412 does have the plastic ones originally.

Not that I mean to hijack this thread, but my question is where to find new hoses from the heat exchangers to the auxillary gas heater over the transaxle. Anyone know of a source for those?
