My cousin gave me an old aluminum truck toolbox that was bent on one side yesterday, and I am going to cut it up and make a dash or a console to mount my gauges and switches in, but I have no idea how I am going to do it yet, and I need some pics and ideas from you guys.

Thanks, David. I already took a look at it, though, and I really didn't get any ideas that I could use, since most of them were bajas. What I am trying to get ideas for is maybe a console that I can put in between the dash bar and the shift box, or a homemade aluminum dash that will cover the back of the gauges and wiring...

These are from Madrails. Bill there built my uncle's green rail below, he does a box like you are talking about out of 1/16 sheet metal.

I made this dash for my car. I have a separate switch panel. The boost gauge and tach and mounted separate as well. Maybe not what you had in mind but it may give you some ideas.

That's one simple and clean cockpit.

Here's mine in the rail buggy I'm currently building. I bought it blank for $20 from Fisher Buggies and cut the holes myself.

One thing that really helped is I took all of the pieces that I wanted to mount and CADed them up one day at work (boss was gone ). I drew all of my OD's and the hole each piece required, then I drew my panel up. I then was able to lay everything out to make sure it would fit, and then printed a few out at full size on paper. I used this paper as a cutting template on the dash. This way everything turned out lined up and even.
