I had to sell my 400 amp 360V 3-phase Mig when I moved to FL...


I started welding when I was 14, and got real active at 18 (First car) and haven't stopped since. (I'm 35). I do sheetmetal, structural, and tool fabrication etc... The only thing I still need to learn and get equipment for, is aluminum. I've got the basics down, after watching pros do it.

I never welded for a living though.

If it can be welded, I can weld it.

The one test is when you can weld a blade to a boat anchor. Watch that puddle.

I was a welder for a few years. Lots of boat stuff. I spent most my time welding blades back on propellers.

I now have a small mig and I miss my TIG very much.

I've been welding for around 15 years.

Been welding for about two years. Learned by doing. Lots of practice on bad metal before welding the replacement panels on my Ghia.

I have been welding for roughly 20 years,started out learning how on my own at first then took 2 years of vocational welding in high school. Went to work welding the day after I graduated.

Mostly do power generation components,national lab stuff,aeropace and been getting into nuclear jobs.

i own a fab shop been welding for about 20 years can weld mag,alum,stainless.cast irons ,and two coors lite cans together.welding is such a vast industry that you have people that just specialist in there field.

I been welding and fabricating for 15 years or so now. Its not what I do everyday. I wrench for a living. But it just comes in handy on the job site every now and then when the job site foreman waves that bonus in my face to get the equipment up and running to meet our deadlines.

bEEN WELDING for 35yrs give a hour or two.Started on stick welding with yhe ironworkers putting up buildings. Then changed to inner shield flux for speed and size of welds.Got myself on to a couple of aluminim jobs and learned mig on alum. Got into bike building and in came the tig welding. once you learn the basic welding tech.,and take your time and LISTEN to someone who knows more,anyone can do it. [email protected]

Welcome to the STF miller0358. What kind of VW's do you have?

Bought a 71 bug new many years ago until I had a blind date with a telephone pole. Always wanted to own another one. It took me 34 yrs to buy another. 73 standard. Got the body off now, working on chassis.First body off for me. Alot more work than I thought but can handle it

Miller.. actually pulling the body will save tons of time.. you can rework the suspension, tranny and engine without having to bend around the body.

I know it bites tipping a shell on pillows to work on it -- but does save a ton of time.

Iam a master fabricater been welding for over 25 years give me a flat peace of metal 10x4 and i could build your house just a miniture version of it. I am a sertified up to 1 inch stainless pressuer vessels built several big time four wheel drive and drag style frames for differnt people down to moble patato chip machines maybe you have seen them called TASTY TATES. including modification on suspention setups on imports and racing imports for circite tracks and yes I know how to weld and build a air coold VW motor. so let me know when your going to build your 1600 motor?
