TIRES AND RIMS!

Post by Ghia Nut »

So, took a little road trip to Florida last night to pick up some things from Alex Magro... tires and rims

Just to give you an idea of what I had...
stock tire (stated in car manual, 155/60/r15)

Tread shot

notice I had to have feet in shot, tires were to tall and skinny to stand on their own :D

And heres what I picded upded yesterdais :)

This is a comparison shot of the three wheels.
Front most is front tires @ 195/45/R15
Middle is 205/50/R15
Back is 155/60/R15

Now for tread width comparrison

yeah, Im liking the fatness as I like it when the tires dont have to be proped up to stand normally :D , not used to that

If you can afford a $2000 hat, I'm sure you can spring for a set of good wheels! :D ....

The pictures look great. Do they look that good in person? How is Alex's finish?

I think they where well worth the purchase, and they are going to look damn good when I put them on. There are some slight inperfections but nothing outstanding. They need to be given a coat of wax which would help but I want to make sure the finish and paint has hardened and had time to adjust. The tires are fat and meaty, Im very happy with my choices. I cant wait to get them on a track and have at it, sad thing is, I think its going to be hard for these tires to let go, Im hoping for goood conrnering and awesome stability.

Congradulations Ghia Nut!!! I have had my wheels from Alex for a couple years now and the finish is still very good. I am running 195/60/15 all round. You might like the 205/50 because they are a little taller and will help with your gearing. The shorter 45 series tires may look better, but when you are running on the interstate at 70 mph, your rpm will be off the chart!!!

Again, congradulations. Alex really does great work and is a great person to work with also. I highly recommend him and his wheels. They aren't too expensive when you consider what you get for the price!!! :D

Your stock tire is a 155/80R15.

You will learn to hate your 205/50/R15 tires on the freeway.

155/80/15 is about 25" in diameter.
195/45/15 is about 22" in diameter.

Great for cornering however as Bruce said you will hate the freeway (as you cower in the right lane).

If those were slicks you could use for autocrossing as they will pull like a different gear with the small diameter.

These Yokohama tires are almost as tall as your original tires and will corner very well on the street. I have these on my street Ghia. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp ... 96HR5ES100
