clutch master

Post by Lahti411 »

My '72 411's clutch master is leaking badly. I understood I could use a Vanagon's master repair kit to service mine, but which parts should the kit include? I found one kit that has only the rubber parts. Should there be something else too? There is another for sale, but haven't yet called to the part's dealer to check what does the kit include.

There are a couple things. Th cylinder will either be ATE (teves) or FAG. Whatever rubber you use must be the correct brand as there are seal radius differences. The rubber parts and the brass flap valves and springs are all that MUST be used. Hone trhe cylinder lightly with 360 grit to get out rust pits. Them lap it smooth with 1000 grit emory cloth. Leave no honing marks. Ray
