Braking Chug

I have and early year (61) volkswagen with a slight brake issue. When I pull up to a stop the is a really bad chug feeling. The shoes only hit the drum on certian sections around the drum when ajusting the brakes. High spped braking is scary as hell. Anybody experience the same problem? Is there a solution? Thanks for your time.

Check the wheel bearings!

If the drum is really at fault, the options are
to replace it or have it turned true.
Turning it will make the ID oversize, making shoe fit
a problem.

It could be that the shoes are not properly centered. Check to make sure that everything is properly assembled inside of the drums. Then adjust the brakes, depress the brake pedal as hard as you can, then re-adjust. When the shoes are out of alignment, they will adjust but not correctly, that's why you adjust a second time.

Wheel bearings tightening up fixed the problem. Thanks for the help. Now body work.
