2316 type4 engine.

Post by Passatman »

Hi guy's/ jake,

What would be the benifits of putting a 2316cc engine in my bug. The gearbox have the following ratio.

1st 3.78
2nd 2.06
3rd 1.48
4th 0.82

ring and pinion is 3.88 ( german ).
tire size is 24.69 inch.

According to the combo it could make 120-190HP on pump gas easily....
we all know what that does to a Bug!

The gear ratios are suitable for a 2316 power output, BUT thats a HUGE drop between 3rd and 4th gears... The 3.88 will magnify the "drop" even more..

Oh! my mistake the 3rd is 1.26. I think jake would say that this is still a big drop off from 3rd to fourth. The car is a 1200 bodied beetle.

1.26 to a .82 is no big deal... It works well.

DAY-UM!

IF my 2316 will pull to 7000, I can go 184 MPH!

Hope the Bradley can handle it!

I figure that if I put 35" tires on the buggy, she'll be doing 212 MPH at just over 4700 RPM's........
