Re: My -72 street car turbo build

So now it drives! AFR around 12 at all times, kinda rich but I will take her to dyno next week for final adjustments.
Max boost I have tested now is 7psi. Now I realized that I run out of gears :D I got stock 1300 transmission, not even nearly enough for this one.
Thank you guys for all your help, without your help this would not have been possible :)
On butt dyno my goal of 150hp is very possible!
Will keep updating on dyno results etc...

run out of gears ,, like u need more? It isn't a 'close ratio' trans is it? my bug is a late model with a 3:88 final drive stock welded fine tooth 3rd & 4th gears ,works really good for the abuse I give it    now my Bus is a different story I'm always looking to shift into 5th gear because of the 4:86 R&P

Well my top speed with previous engine at 5000rpm was 145kmh on 4th gear 😆 So pretty close ratio gears. Need to save money for a better gearbox.

Don't forget for tuning.........you can mix idles and mix mains etc. What I mean is......On the idle circuit you can have a 45 on one bank/barrel and on the other side a 50.

Same with the mains. You can have a 110 and a 130 etc. This is ok to do cause it merges into one with your style intake to turbo. HTH.

Now running 10psi of boost, timing set at 28° @ 3500rpm retarding to 21° under full boost. Still running pretty rich but otherwise everything seems great!
Have driven around 500km now. She pulls really well for what it is :D

Did you add in water-meth injection to get up to 21 degrees advance? Seems like alot of advance without a charge cooler of some kind.

Draw through

Yes it is draw through. After driving I can still hold my hand on the intake even just few inches away from cylinder heads. Intake temp is really cool. No audible detonation at 21°

Looks great. Is there a carb support ? And is the carb at a certain angle ? I remember reading on the Turbomania book that I thought it was supposed to be angled a little. Yours does look to be.

EDIT: I think I see the support now :)

Yeah in a draw through it will sometimes even ice up. At least here where its mega humid it would.
