We'll hit another snag that is slowing me down. Found out today that my 180° U-bend is not in fact stainless. Saw a couple of small rust spots on it before, 304 can technically rust, but didn't think much of it. After handling it a few more times, the rusting got worse. Got a magnet out this morning and BAM, it popped right too it. Oh well, go an email in with ATP Turbo to get the correct bend shipped. Just a few day hick-up.. but I was on a roll.

Me too.. I can't claim that I welded that, I had help.

I've got access to a really nice machine though, and some guys that are willing to help me out. Its going to look great when its done and semi-polished up.

What welder are you using?
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I have a Diversion 165, it is entry level and pretty inexpensive but works very well. We use to to use a Syncrowave 250 at work, and I build most of my header with a Sycrowave 250. But I really like my inverter based machine and probably would never buy a transformer based machine in the future. I do really like the pulse tig feature of the 250 though! I do miss that ;)

Good info... I'm going to take some of my tubing drops from my bends and start doing some practicing with them. I can stick and MIG, but haven't ever tried to TIG. I'd like to be able to add that skill to my arsenal.

Made more progress today... Got the fan shroud and everything reinstalled (what a pain!). Dropped the intake all back in place to mock everything up. Made a few more cuts after work yesterday, and made flange for the throttle body. Overall its looking good!

ATP turbo has a replacement stainless u-bend heading my way as the one I got was mild and not 304. From looking at everything, I think I'm going to shorten up both 90's (discharge from turbo and where the TB is mounted) to give the 180 turn a little more room. Overall I'm pleased

Stopped by Buggy Warehouse today and picked up a new clutch cable and clutch arm for my pedal cluster. I'll get that all rebuilt and reinstalled probably tomorrow.

Slick!

The U bend is a place holder for a chargecooler eventually, I assume?

Lookin good VDN! I'd like to be able to TIG as well but fortunately we have a header manufacturer here in town that does beautiful work. Would be a nice art to master though.

Just a quick update... Been a little quiet in the garage lately. Me and Momma just got home from the hospital today from having our new baby girl! Couldn't have asked for better delivery, much better for Momma than big brother was. Everyone is happy and healthy, and all together back home again.

My replacement stainless u-bend showed up while I was out. Should let me get the rest of the intake worked up when I get back to work next week sometime. Gonna see if I can sneak out during nap times and work on a few of the smaller things like plumbing the oil cooler and filter back in, painting the header, etc, etc.
