Its been a long time since Ive been here, so thought i let everyone know I got the motor up & running.... For how long, who knows... only put 20 to 30 miles on it so far.
got some new KYB's for the front, some nice used door & rear quarter pannles, & alum pedal covers.
moved the temp & pressure gauges up into the dash...
any ideas why the pressure gauge quit working? When i turn the ignition on or start the car, It now goes to max & stays there... I color coated the wires & backs of the gauges so i wouldnt miss wire them...
& it worked before I moved it.

I was wondering about you just the other day.
Sounds like you've got a short to ground somewhere in the sender wire.

The last several months have been crazy... went to SD, had friends & family over from out of state, hurt my back, been sick 3 times since january, wife had more hrs cut & so on... So not a lot of time to mess with the baja.

But im trying to get back to it now..
Just met a local Baja/rail builder last week & invited him to come over here to S.T.F. & join us... he has a prety nice looking Baja that he's in the midle of building. hope we will see him here soon.

will the battery not take a charge? I saw a article on how you can bring them back to life. You hook up another battery in parallel, then put the optima on a charger, and it will take a charge. Once they go under 4 volts, the charger won't charge them alone.

You should start a Tech thread in the sticky.

Took me a minute to figure out why this would work. It's not magic in the battery. Once the battery goes under 4 volts the charger won't charge them alone because the charger sees the battery as a dead short and turns off. Hooking a good battery in parallel fools the charger and it will supply a charge current. You aren't really bringing a bad battery back to life, you're just getting a car charger to work with a deeply discharged battery. If the battery is really bad, this won't "fix" it. All the regular rules that apply to lead and acid still exist. Abused batteries fail early.

Or all you need is a really old dumb charger that just suplis 12 volts at a specified amperage

Use jumper cables just like you would if you were jump starting a car.

Quick Up-date:
Hurt my back last summer, Had to have back surgery in january.. Didnt go well! & im as bad now as before the surgery or worse... Been selling off tons of my stuff to pay bills..... That sucks!
Did get a cheep batery... & have been driving the car some. But only when nessacery!!!!!! It rides so rough that it kills my back! Have to fix the front suspention or get rid of the car!
A while back the headlight switch started having issues & is still on its way out. Couple weeks ago the door lock broke, had to spend several hrs replacing with another handle. (had to tare that down & rekey it) Yesterday the wipers went out in the midle of a down pore 10 miles away from home at dusk........
Im getting tired of the constant fighting to even keep this thing going. (or maby just aging too fast)
