for the guy who bougt the hoses, you get what you pay for. if you bought some $40 hoses man you shouldnt expect them to be perfect oem showroom quality.

im sure some of you guys probably have legit beef with aa, perhaps greenwood falls into this catagory. but i am also sure some of you guys are just anal nitpickers though. i know i have seen it before on this forum and others, when someone is to anal to change somthing around they bought for pennies on the dollar.

if we were all driving $400,000 beltley's i could see being pissed off about the wrong colour hoses.

i will give you guys a perfect example of the right and wrong thing to do when buying the wrong part. a couple months ago i bought a brand new set of dot approved SS brake lines for my 914. i have a 71 914 and apparently, the 72-76 lines are different. the end fittings are larger or somthing because i could not put them through the brake line holder on my front shocks. on the package it also said 72-76 so they were indeen incorrect. i had to drill the hole in the shocks where the brake line goes through BIGGER so that the brake line would fit. it took me 30 seconds per side to do this. i didnt even bother to call up pelican and tell them they gave me the wrong part on accident, because its a simple enough fix and i dont expect everything to be perfect on a set of $50 lines. later on when PP emailed me to do a followup on my purchase i mentioned i got the wrong parts, and made them work so its no big deal.

i can just imagine some of you guys getting totally pissed off about somthing so insignificant as this and demanding a REFUND and taking your buisness elsewhere because pp screwed up one time. now if my brake lines would not fit even with my modifications then i would call em up and ask for an exchange. but it isnt worth my time or theirs is i can make them fit quite easily.

look guys we dont drive expensive cars, there are vw's of all things. deal with the fact that somtimes parts dont fit and you should modify them appropriately. if everyone wouldnt be so ANAL about things i would bet the cost of parts would come down because of less returns and hassle and time. im not saying you should deal with new defective parts, or the wrong part altogether. that would warrant a return. but if your hoses do not have pretty stripes, or your valve cover has a small bur on it, grind the burr off.

ray, im going to call AA tomorrow and tell them i have a vw and need a porsche equalilent part and ask how much it is and see what happens. now i need to find their phone number again. anyone have it offhand?

Hey 914 FREAK ....

Man, you missed the POINT completely didn't you ??? Did you even read the original problem and the rest ... I doubt it ......

Too busy talking about ANAL this and ANAL that to understand that the real issue was THE PACKAGE DID NOT CONTAIN WHAT THE AD SAID IT WOULD ... hoses and a diagram ( Is this too much to ask ) Don't go on about people being ANAL, etc ...

Yeah, when a 914 kicks the a$$ of a 911 at Mosport, I'll be thinking about you and how "poor we are" for owning a "VW" Porsche ....

You need to get yourself a Honda dude!

Your 914 must be a total turd!

This incident is just the tip of a very large iceberg. What ever happened to friendly and honest service? Or is this just too much to expect anymore.

Uh...my 412 is expensive. I have about $15K locked up in this thing for all of the parts I had to have manufactured...and its not even street worthy yet. Though I do get 914 freaks point.....sometimes its faster and easier not to complain...but to just get on with it for the price.....but I do think he missed the point.

In the minor problem with the shocks from Pelican parts, I would have just modified them and gone on also.....but the MAIN point is....that had you elected to complain to pelican....chances are, they would have resolved the problem quickly and courteously, EVEN though it was trivial. Thats the main problem with AA. They are generally rude...and many times do not resolve the problem. Ray
