Oxy/Acetylene with a fluxed brazing rod and a can of flux is what i used.
It ends up looking like melted brass on the tank after you are done since it has a
copper color.
You have to be a little careful because you can burn holes in the tank. It has to be almost hot enough to melt the tank metal but it is a very fine line and will take a bit of practice.

The only thing you are going to do with butane is solder.
You should consider breaking down and paying to have this done properly, perhaps deliver a pizza right before lunchtime as a bribe or payment.

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
Well I would do that except the financial controller told me the other day... "don't spend anything, we haven't got ANY money now". Hmmm, great. I'm feeling the pull of your extension to Newton's first law.
^ Then there's no space for a spare wheel... and 4 metre long hoses. I think it'll get plenty of airflow under the back of the car. I just need to find a spot where it won't interfere with gearboxes and like.
If it will fit directly over the trans it has the best protection.
You may be able to fit a pair of 120mm Delta 12v fans to it... usually used on overclocked computers, but they move a lot of air, and some have sealed ball bearings.
The only problem is recycling hot air in that location, you really need and inlet or exhaust duct of some kind to keep the hot air from just looping back around.
Even a plastic cardboard divider over the trans would keep it isolated L<>R side, could then go with very little ductwork.

Thanks Piledriver. I'd also like to put a bar in bracing both shocktowers together. If I put it above the trans then it's in the way of that... Hmm will have to keep thinking.

I dont mean the spare wheel well, but next to your rear wheel, left or right under the fender.
There is a lot of room there. I got my external filter bolted to my bumper mount.
If i would need an extra oil cooler id put it there.
Hmmm, I'd be worried about rock and gravel damage there. I might do the odd event with the car that involves dirt tracks. The last thing I need is to put a rock through the filter.
I'll have another look under there though. I found this thread on Pelican parts with a 911 doing a similar thing with the front wheel.
