Current engine pic. I swapped my old legacy pulley for my Berg pulley. I gotta say it is running really well. I did find some lean spots in my logs from after the dyno runs. I wasn't really paying attention to the low rpm and under 2200 it was about 14.5:1 so I added some fuel down low. Pulls better in higher gear from the lower rpm now. I wish I had looked at a log while I was still strapped down

Moral of the story: Data is only good if you look at it

How much change did you make to your ignition table on the dyno?

Not as much as I would have liked because it was only an inertia dyno without a load cell. I wasn't able to do any tuning in the driving portion of my map.

I had a little time to drive yesterday so I went out and gave her some hell.

Actually I wanted to spend some more time on my cruise ignition. I have found that my heads run really cool as well. Under 300 basically all the time unless I'm on the freeway for and extended period doing 70.

Here is what I ended up with yesterday. 44-45 degrees timing in my cruise area. AFR is 15.5-16:1 at this point and CHT have come upto ~270 with this bump in ignition but on the flip side my EGT dropped from 1350 or so down to 1250-1270.

Now I will go back to the VE table and see how much more fuel I can pull :)

Mario,

Is it possible for me to log EGT and CHT using MS1 V2.2? I picked up an EGT gauge last week and hope to get some time to tune on the Speedster in the next week or 2 and it would be nice if I could log the EGT and CHT rather than having to keep mental notes.

You can but you have to build 2 additional ADC circuits to interface the ECU.

Did you get the gauges with the 0-5volt retransmitting built in?

I should have but I got this one: http://thesensorconnection.com/gauges-p ... emperature

My Dakota Digital CHT gauge is sometimes difficult to read due to glare as I never put the top up on the car so I may sell it and this EGT gauge once I get the tune where I want it and get this dual gauge: http://thesensorconnection.com/egt-prob ... eter-gauge It has the 0-5v outputs. Don't really know if it would be easier to read or not but it would get rid of 1 gauge though once it is tuned where I want it, I really shouldn't need the gauges until I change something.

Yeah I have 2 of these. I really like them because you don't have to guess at the temps. They are real precise. I can't log the temps on my Microsquirt so I have to just do the mental note thing. If I see something I don't like I just hit the spacebar to make a manual mark in my datalog to look at later to figure out what needs to change.

You are correct that though, once everything is where you want it they can all come out. That second one looks pretty new I don't remember seeing the digital gauges with the outputs. Very cool when space is a concern ;)

I had thought about getting that gauge as well but the one I picked goes along well with my other gauges and I wasn't sure if glare or sunlight would wash the numbers out or not.

Got it! They do pretty good until they get hit with direct sun, then they do get mostly washed out.

Have you had time to calculate your mpg? Nicole is getting right at 20mpg hammering it daily around town with short freeway runs to work. As happy as both our engines are at freeway speeds, I'd bet 30's are possible, even in Her heavy '74 Super.

I don't have a speedo in my car so I have to rely on google maps for distance. I filled up the night before CFTC and did 220 miles the day of the cruise. I was left with about 3/8ths of a tank.

If I estimate the fuel left at 2 gallons, I burned 8 gallons / 220 miles traveled I should be somewhere in the ballpark of 27.5mpg. And you saws how I was traveling. I'm pretty satisfied with that. Also taking into consideration we went up the pass. I see 30 being completely within reach considering I installed my baro sensor the morning of and it was running overly rich from my base tune. I didn't have time to adjust the compensation curve :(

I would think you can get more out of here combo. Although with as much torque it makes down low you might be fighting for mileage numbers :)

I did a calc on my mileage and on the first full tank I got 24.32 mpg.

That is going to work and back and on boost......... :? ohhhh............occasionally...........

This last one was down to 21.27 mpg but I did richen up my cruise to try to get my oil temps above 160 degrees. I'm still cruising at 14.6-15.2 to 1 at 55 mph.
I also have been running it a lot harder......

If you find you need more heat under certain conditions, run near stoich and retard the timing.
(especially useful at idle, compare the "factory" 5 ABTDC vs ~10-15 BTDC)

More timing down low also makes for a huge drivability boost--- use the "idle timing" feature and crank your main map.

I also (ab)use the cold timing function and WUE for this to speed warmup, and also richen the mix hot.

You can use them over the full temp range,(not just for warm up) just turn off the WUE indicator if it bothers you.

My only complaint is I cant kick the timing up at hot idle only.
(At WOT you want a little less timing when hot, at idle I'd prefer much more. but simply setting the clidle target higher there helps a lot )

You may want to try the beta firmware--- a LOT of (mainly idle related) features were being backported from MS3.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

do you deal with the accel enrichment circuit with the WUE always on?
