I always hated installing the stock pedal assembly for that very reason... getting the clutch cable hook through the cable end, and bolted back up - never could get that to go smooth. Must be beyond my simple brain. Now that I have gone hydraulic I don't have to worry about that anymore.
You're welcome for the pics... what about the dash? Decide on that yet?

Haven't decided yet. I think I want to get completely finished before I finalize the dash. Not sure what I might add or delete at this point.
Right now I'm focusing on getting it road/sand worthy. Once it's driveable, I'll go for updates.
My tentative update list:
- have to find out the size of current motor, then bigger motor?
- disk brakes (especially if bigger motor)
- Thing front end (or cut&turn)
- coil overs
- hydraulic pedals
I just want to get it driveable and enjoy it a bit....at least for awhile, you know?

All too well... In fact, if you miss this season and don't make it out to Ocotillo with that thing you will never hear the end of it...

Got it in!!! Thanks for the tip David!
I also didn't know about this thing....I actually POR15'd over it...thinking it was a permanent mounted stop.
Next is to figure out the brakes....and hook up the gas tank!

Cool Beans.

My buddy fought his on his drag car for like three hours. He was on the side of the rode and called and wanted to know what the trick to it was. I said you big dummy

just tape the the cable to the hook the tape will just fall off.

I don't ever remember changing a cable but I may have 30 years ago.

I figured out the brake plunger.

The only thing that holds it on is the brake spring???
I have to put on my to-do list to bleed the brakes and check the drums before hitting the road. Also adjust the throttle and clutch, but I figure I have to have brakes to do that, right?!?!
I had to pick up new fuel line for under the tank. I didn't trust what was left of the old one.

I've read about moving the filter to under the tank to avoid the chance of an engine fire.....anyone have pics of this? ...or is this even a valid worry?

you can put it under the tank or right where it comes out of the rear framehorn.... just as long as its not above the distributor and ignition wires.....

Pretty much what's on page 4....
Once I have the fuel tank installed, I'll take more pics....and after I bleed the brakes, I may have a vid of driving it down the street! (without windows)

Thanks for the tip David!
I looked for lawnmower repair shops and actually found those type on Ebay.
I was at San Diego House of Motorcycles to get parts for my DR....right on the wall behind the counter was a fuel shutoff valve!
So, along with my parts for my bike, I came home with a part for the baja!
The bad news is that when I get home and reassemble my clutch cover, I find that 2 bolts are missing!!!
The only thing I can figure is that the dog ate them! I lined them all up on a rag on the garage floor...right next to the bike. The papers I had printed out from the service manual were found chewed and destroyed....I can only assume.
So the bike is OOC (out of commission), so I decided to install my newly acquired part.
I know you guys like pics, so I took pictures of my progress:
I set the tank in place and marked my 'comfortable' clearance.
After the initial connections, I added some rubber spacers from my 67 dismantle...I think they are interior bushings of some sort...I don't remember....
I added some pipe clamps to prevent vibration or bouncing around.....I'm thinking of upgrading to a metal filter and mount. Any suggestions to type and where to find the mount?
I took the tire off to do the work....here's the finished result.

sounds like you are going to have to check out the dog logs for a couple of bolts.....
