Haha! This car doesn't wheelie! I've tried, I think it's too low in the rear and doesn't pivot quite right. Just squats and goes.

Ultimately, all I want is boost sooner than 4500rpm. I don't really want more boost, just faster boost. Lost my racetrack this year, so it needs to figure out how to be a street car, and apparently street cars make boost before 4500rpm, or so I've been told. Hopefully the little turbo will come alive nice and early, and the big one will give it the endurance it needs to rev all the way through the rpm range with good power. We'll see.

I'm super interested to see when your boost comes in now.

Fantastic Job!!! Can't wait to see how it works for you after some tuning.

Totally cool!
I did a compound set-up once with a 1200 T1 engine, but unfortunately burned a bearing (unrelated).
Which turbo’s did you use for this? Primary and secondary?

Still up in the air on things right now. Got in a few drives today. Took it to a local car show, but took mostly back roads to it, no great chances to really open it up. After that was done I took it for a quick burn on the local freeway, it definitely pulls hard. Right now it's making just under 20psi, and that's with the ecu spark cutting as things get out of hand. I think I have a 7 psi spring controlling the small turbo, and i know I have a 14 psi spring in the gate in charge of the big turbo. So in theory it should make 20 without much struggle. I am seeing that my big turbo likes to kinda go crazy and boost to the moon, it's made 19 all by itself. Wondering if maybe it's gate is just too small. I should probably check some hoses tomorrow to make sure everything is still actually connected. Wouldn't be the first time one has blown off.

Big turbo is my .63ar t3/t04e, the little turbo is a td05-16g. I'm wondering if I might have gone a little large on the small turbo. Time will tell I suppose. I can definitely see that my boost controller is manipulating the spool of the little one, and have made changes to try walking it up a little sooner.
In one test i saw 6psi by 3000rpm, which is pretty good for this engine based on previous experience. I'm hoping for better than that as I get the tune dialed in better. It's coming along though. Temps look good. It feels strong as the boost comes in. Feels great to be driving a turbo car again!

Hi Chip,
So cool to hear your results!
Mind you that the high total boost you see, even with ‘just’ the 14 psi spring in the primary (big) turbo is to be expected: total boost in a Compound set-up is dictated by multipling MAP of both turbo’s.
So, with 7psi and 14psi springs, MAP’s are 1,5 and 2.0
Multiplied you get 1.5 x 2.0 = 3.0 bar MAP or 30 psi boost on just the wastegates!
Therefore, at 20psi, the combo is not at full boost yet.

Probably you already knew all of this 😉

Any new news on your TT project????
It works! I need to relocate a wastegate to better control the big turbo. It has no interest in slowing down once it starts spooling. Parts are here, just gotta pull it apart and start welding. I've seen 20psi from the little turbo by 4200rpm. The car ends up bouncing off the 20psi boost cut limiter pretty much as soon as it starts spooling. I've got some oil leaks to resolve before it gets driven much more though, 7 year old axle boots have called it quits apparently.
