My condolences as well, Bill.

I do still intend to sell my 412, not because of this whole MPS debacle, but because my partner and I just don't really have the expendable dough to have a toy like this. I want to lavish heaps of new upholstery on the 412 and instead I have to pay boring old stuff like the mortgage. I had a whole list of things to upgrade and re-do and I just really don't have the cash and it would be a shame for someone to not be able to enjoy this car in its glory. Its been costing me tons in fuel for the past three months but it has been an absolute blast.

Another time, after my partner graduates from university and I am not paying all the bills, I will own another 412, but for now I gotta do what I gotta do. :)

So Uber, feel free to call dibs on that MPS that Bill has for when he has the time to ship it to you when his personal life allows it. I'll keep hunting for another one. Your 412 is going to be your daily driver so I can wait for the next used one to come along.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss Bill. Don't worry at all about the car stuff, take care of your family and we'll be glad to have to back around when you feel up to it.

412jen. Do not sell your car. Just let it sit still. Put a sheet over it. The current (last 12 mos.) rush of 411/412's showing up on the market....is an anomally. There were never this many for sale at one time that I have ever seen. Many people have just been inheriting things and dumping them on the market. This "wash" of type 4 cars....is unique and unprecidented....and is just about the end of it. You seem to have a very straight car......and there is about a 90% chance that after things taper off...which I predict will be spring....like June.......you may never have an opportunity to own one....that has as clean of a starting point again.

There are a lot of initiatives for parts that I and others have started. Right now a lot of these issues have been solved .....and are not expensive at all. Just that we have run into time issues and getting fixes out thatere that people can do themselves had been a little delayed.

I am still planning on getting a group buy of stock upholstery together this spring from Sew fine. This would cut the cost down by 2/3 for a brand new factory interior.
I have 90% of the suspension problems sorted out...for cheap. Just have to get the info out there.

The MPS parts are delayed...but will be soon.

Problem with selling it is...the value is not high at all...unless all of the potential problems that will have to 100% be addressed in order to be a daily driver...have been addressed. You would get not enough out of it to pay many bills. Just keep it and stop pouring money into it for the moment.

By the way..I just finished the design for a headliner...that looks 98% factory stock....uses factory materials....requires no sewing...and installs in abqout 30 minutes  . I spent all wekend slapping myself on the back. It is so cool.
It should cost about $60 in materials.....and is dirt simple to make. More later.

Keep your car and we can help you finish it. Just be patient. Ray

I emailed him and he was not able to go and test it for me before the auction ran out. I don't need another broken one, so I passed.

There is another on there right now, the guy tested it and it does not hold indefinitely, it holds for some time and then loses vacuum.

I found one in Germany, as well, for 25 euros plus shipping of about 50 euros but I can't afford the shipping to get it here.

So Bill, I will send you an email. Thank you!

Thanks Bill, you are the man. I'm glad that you are back and were able hang in there through the tough times in your family.

I bid on that MPS on ebay, and several others, and lost as I am also hesitant to bid too much on one that is not tested. I've got enough paperweights already.
