Gauge issues

I had an interesting problem similar to this . I wanted to validate/calibrate my headtemp gauges ( I have 2 type 4 vehicles). Using the boiling water method I found the two vdo guages to have @ 50 degree discrepancy between each other and both to be a bit high. On the way back to the car I dropped one of the gauges. It then read 150 degrees when totaly disconnected! . I took a jewlers screwdriver and pried the chrome ring that holds the glass in enough to lossen the bezel and then rotated the gauge back so the pointer was at zero when unconnected. I then retested the two gauges and they both read almost the same!
You might check to see if the gauge will read zero when totaly diconnected .

Nice, those Dakotadigitals appear to use TCs...
Now if they would sell them with the 10 ft pigtails we need...

They do Pile. 6', 10' and 14' are available.

Very nice looking guages.

This is an old thread but you'll know why I came across it...

Anyhow, I have the Hyfire VI CDi box in my speedster which has an RPM controlled output switch and a ignition retard input switch. Hook the two together with a 10Kohm resistor (to 12v) and you can have, say, 3 degrees of ignition retard switched in above, say, 4500 rpm.

Would this be too unsubtle, or upset the AFR with carbs?

If it worked, it would be a nice feature.
You will simply have to try it.
