How about a sustained 50 HP load @ 3500 rpm, like Eric suggested? It's a great real world test that holds more in my book that raw HP figures, assuming that there will be real data acquisition, like head temps, egt, etc. Even if you just monitored a single head temp, the senders are dirt cheap and everyone should be forced to run the same sender.

WOW! Let's see who can build the best Type I engine....BUWAHAHHAHAHA!

Again, no Type 4 allowed.......we wouldn't want to spank those TI guys
in an engine buld-off, now would we?

I thought you guys wanted diversity, you know, "ten different configurations", was posted somewhere in this thread....

You're ending up with 8 2332 clones, just built by different folks.

Good luck guys!

I personally have bee pushing for a cc limit instead of a bore and stroke limit that way the Type 4 guys could play since 96's are fairly common.
The type 4 2.0 engine uses 94 mm bore stock.

I think that thowing a TIV in the mix would do nothing but create even more headaches for Chico when trying to create a more level playing field.

I would LOVE to put together something for the event, but I know that with the differences between TI and TIV that the rules that would be fair to each engine would be damn near impossible to create..

This looks like it may be an annual event, so let's see how it goes this year for Chico and maybe next year he can take what he learned from this first event and apply it toward a set of more universal, but "fair" rules.

The type 4 2.0 engine uses 94 mm bore stock.
And a Type 1 engine uses 85.5 mm bore stock. But they have been allowed all along to run larger than stock bores that are common. My point being, 96mm bore is common with Type 4's, so why not let them run it?

As far as a "level" playing field, i'd throw that in the garbage. Make it as un-level as it wants to see what variety shows up to play. Like stated earlier, make it a showcase, not a contest. Show the spectators what kinds of DIFFERENT things can be accomplished to reach the same goal.

oh brother. The field is level when you say "2300cc limit, get it however you want". A bunch of clone motors is going to put readers to sleep.

I WOULD be interested in a 2270 T-4 (78 X 96mm), 2300 T-4 (69 X 103mm), 82 X 94mm T-1, 88 X 90.5mm T-1, etc That would be cool!

Larger bore, equals larger valves, equals more H/P.
