Mikeyyyyyy!
Wasssuuupppppppp??????????????
It just so happens that we will be taking the dragster up to Palmdirt this weekend for the import race. The IDRC tech guy called me the other night asking me if I would be there. Pretty cool people. They arent the VW bashers that everybody thinks they are.
Got the turbo back together and the new 350 GPH fuel pump in.
Lloyd is also going to try to run the Manx in All Motor. We will probably just make exibition passes in the dragster but if they do something nice for us maybe I will run the buggy while Lloyd drives the dragster. We'll see but I'll definately be there Saturday.
See if you cant drag your old a$$ up there.

Ok,
The little threaded hole (1/8" NPT I think) is the oil inlet. The larger untapped square hole that looks dirty inside and is on the exact opposite side of the oil inlet is the oil drain. You need a tapped adapter for the drain that will bolt on with the two bolt holes beside it.
Your turbo looks to me to have a water cooled center section. Thats what the other two holes are for. I think you can just plug them but I would talk to a REAL turbo guru to make sure. This must have come off a water cooled car of some kind.

It looks like that turbo came off a late '80s chrysler lebaron. It basically the same turbo that volksnut is using.
On pic #1 yes that is the oil return, you can also go to the wrecking yard and adapt the original piece for your drain.
Pic 2 is the oil inlet as previously stated opposite from the outlet.
Pic 3&4 are the water inlet and outlet. which you have two options a. plug them (the easiest) or to install a small cooler with fan and and electric pump and plumb it for cooling. (too much bs to contend with)
As for the orientation of the intake and exhaust. See volksnut pix ontaking it off. the exhaust you might whant to do the same and going with an external waste gate (sorry I forgot where the accuator is mounted on the intake. Also the waste gate is probably set around 8#s.
Hope this helps
Alan
p.s. also on the exhaust it is set up for a factory donut with sprung bolts attaching it. so you might want to pick up the factory down pipe ata wreckling yard also.

Sorry guys!! I have not been on this site for awhile. I have been busy with other projects. The blue turbo bug is mine. Its an old school De Coppen Bros. set with a Rajay EF-80. I used a tee fitting and a 90 were you would normally put your oil pressure sensor, because I also have my oil pressure sender for my pressure gauge and my AutoMeter pro light sensor that goes to my warning light. So from engine oil pressure sensor outlet to turbo oil inlet. Then it is gravity drained to were I use to have the stock gas pump with a fuel block off plate with a 1/2 hose fitting using 1/2 braided house. In the picture that was Sacramento race way in May. I drove my car from San Jose to Sacramento that day with no problems, but on the way home I was 3/4 the way home and incountered tranny problems up the grade in Pleasanton/Fremont. I was stuck in 3rd gear and thought I bent a shift fork or something. Thanks to Art Masunaga and the guys from the Road Relics VW Club for helping me get out of a bad situation. We pulled Arts show car out and put my car in his inclosed trailer and got my car home safely. I left the car alone for a week and tried to figure out in my head what went wrong. I finally pulled the bumper off and took of my rear apron cause I was going to take the motor and tranny out. It ended up that one of the bolts for the shift coupler was loose. I checked it that day but that little movement makes all of the difference in the world. I even had it safety wired so it won't come out, but it had loosen alittle bit. I tightened it and moved my shifter around and started the car and all gears were there. Wuhh!! Problem Solved!
