Just doing my part to re-educate the world about the eeeeviiil-ness of carburation vs injection

. Kinda like those VD films they used to show long ago....gotta use sledge hammer tactics. Heck...the Brits dang near got their backsides whipped in the battle of britain simply because the spitfires at that point were using carbs. Ever check the early footage?...the spits had to drop over on their backs at a tilt when going into a dive to keep the fuel from exit-ing the carbs and causing a power loss. The me-109 did not. In fact...there were no German carbed fighters past 1938. the last carbed German airplane was produced somwhere in 1942. Yes....the short term answer was to "polish the turd".... which was to develope the zenith stromberg injection carb...or floatless carburettor. Kinda like finally quiting sleeping with your sister...in favor of your third cousin...because its safer

. No...the medication is right here on the desk where it should be!

I had no idea that FI was around back then!

I would drop the whole idea of carbs if I knew of a way to get FI installed...
But that would require finding a working FI unit with all its pieces and knowing how to set it up...
I assume there must be some good books, but to be honest the market for parts around my area really sucks.. and I don't know what I'm getting when ordering off of the internet...
I haven't found great info about aftermarket systems, MegaSquirt looks okay, but I've seen no complete systems that didn't require a lot of work, that I don't think I trust myself doing...

maybe one day when I have much more time and money I can look into the idea...
It all around seems like a better, more logical, more efficient idea

Hee hee...don't let me beat on carbs too much. they do work and work well. Just not as good as injection. If I were to buy a bug just to keep original and drive around with...short of a few longevity improvements...Iwould probably run the stock carb...just because soon...it will be hard to find an original bug. There are lots of options for injection.
Injection..technically...has been around longer than carbs I believe. I don't quote me on this...I will have to fins out where I read it....but some Frenchman had a stationary engine of sorts..well before automobiles...that had an injection system. I think the first production Bosch high pressure units came out around 1922. I think there were other diesel injections before that. See the education/propaganda process is alraedy working!

Ray, the first internal combustion engine was a COAL DUST injected
engine....built by Otto Von DIESEL.....

Yeah...well maybe it wasn't that far back

. Coal dust would not be any worse than those wood burning VW's of yore. Heck...thats how the big ugly powerplants run. But somehwere back there was ...like early 1800's or so...a man that used a crude injection system on a power unit. I will have to dig around. Coal dust burning diesel....dang! bet that was noisey, smelly and dangerous! Ray

Hey, I was a cook in a bar for a while as a second job...I was flat out amazed at all the people that came in after 10, 11pm and just drank beer and ate ray oysters until we closed (2am).
It was disgusting. And it made my job less fun since I had to shuck the bastards

But talk about risk man....

That's pretty cool, when I turned 16, I used to get off of work doing construction at 5-6PM, then drive 20 miles to the Oyster Bar and shuck oysters all night for tips....

I still LOVE raw and steamed oysters though! I'll eat anythig that smells like fish....
