Did you ever get that VSS figured out? Turns out my ecu does need a VSS input. Right now I'm planning on trying to make my own, but it is good to know that there are other options out there. Unfortunatly school has been taking up a lot of my time lately so I haven't worked om my car as much as hoped. I still have lots of wiring left ahead of me, but most other things are good to go. Would love to hear an update on how your car was running.

Haven't been able to work on the car much, work has been taking up a lot of time.... I hate it when that happends
Anyway, I saved a bunch of posts wrt the VSS from the Subaru-Vanagon group. I am planning on going through those, and the ones posted here, and see which solution I'm going to try.
I'll keep you posted.

hello i have a suby 2.5 in a 914 and it runs great and i am using a cheap timer circuit thats about 10 bucks, no problems with limp or shut down now, before it would run for 2 mins then shut off if i went anywhere near full throttle
