is that the same noise then, or is that a another frequention?
so your advise is to use the lh 2,2 without knock sensor,
in your earlier reply to a another person you said that the saab isn't optimal, why not? what are the problems, isn't saab a good turbo injection

The LH2.x does not include a knocksensor, the APC(automatic performance control)system is a free system and so is the EZK-ignition.
Every engine is different, this system is optimal for the saab engine it came from but works great on a 2L type4/914.

Hi Ron,
A knock sensing device is a very important item on an turbo'd type 4 aircooled VW engine. At least that is how I feel about it. This is mainly because there is less knowledge on turbo'd type 4's around than there is info on type 1 engines, so may be in the danger zone before you know it. Low speed knock you hear easily and then it can be rectified by retarding ignition. If your engine leans out at high revs, you will get the dreaded 'high speed knock' which kills engines within seconds and you hardly hear it before its too late.
So where does this all lead to? There is very much info on this matter on Aircooled.net website about the Johnsons knock sensor and retarding device. The Johnson's knock sensor system not only gives give peace of mind, but also a gain in power, since you can set your boost levels at the maximum without the chance of blowing your engine. I would surely use it if I would ever build a type 4 turbo.
If the Saab knock sensor can be used, I would certainly get the saab system with that option, but I doubt it can be used or modified to work on an aircooled system because of all the extra noise the aircooled engine makes, like Jonas said also. And we don't have, or can really use, the hydaulic lifters to reduce noise a little.
These are just my thoughts on it, of course.
Greetings,
Walter

whats the story with the knock sensor of the porsche 911, can i use it, it seems to me that the knock is measured and adjust by the computer not by the sensor, the sensor only detects sound and the computer detects the knock out of the sound
or am i totally wrong

No that's right, the knocksensor sens the sound of the knock and adjust ignition and/or boost with help from a computer.

A specific 'knock' frequency is what the sensor is looking for.

so if i have a 911 knock sensor (its basecally the same motor) its the good sensor, and can i adapt him to the saab system and then the computer does the rest. Does somebody knows this? can i have some info about this. Or should i buy the ultraguard computer

The sensor is adjusted to the electronics

Thx for the correction!
