Turbo66's 70' baja build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Well I did some work today. Cage building has got to be one of the most time consuming things in building a baja. So I started bracing up the front cage to the beam. I will be extending bracing to the outer edge of the beam, so other than that what do you guys think? Should be strong enough or do you think i should add some more? any suggestions will be appreciated, Thanks

looks good to me. One of the hardest things to do is not put bracing in the way of something else that needs to go there and you find that out later.

here is a small update from last weekend. got the radiator mounted on the bottom for now, waiting for some tabs to come in to mount the top. also what do you guys think as far as seats, im kinda leaning toward the bucket seats but the others sure are comfy. I threw in a top view of the front bracing, havnt got to adding a couple of 1" pieces in there yet

the buckets look cool but aren't too comfortable on a bumpy ride......

i found a set of used beard seats for $75 or 80 and a few years later had the insert recovered.

It is all a matter of what is in your budget, if possible go with some nice beards or other proven off-road seat if all you can do for now is the buckets then go for it they are for sure a step up from the Poly seats, I know!

ive been thinking about this project all week let me tell ya. I started my family leave act monday and have not been able to go out there to work on it. next week i hope to be able to get out there, as long as i can find someone to watch my baby girl. Having a break on it gives me time to think of the details of the next steps ahead so i guess this isnt a bad thing me staying inside lol.
