Yes that is so you can fill the tank without getting gas on yourself.

Is there a 1-way valve that is supposed to go on it, like a dirt bike?

Where do I route it to?

I was all setup to order parts through Chirco, but they don't have the pedal return spring in stock....have to quote CIP1.

I was reading in the Bentley manual that there is supposed to be an anti-squeak gasket that goes between the gas tank and body. I can't find anything on Mid-America, CIP1, or Chirco...

Am I reading it incorrectly? Do I not need a gasket?

When I took mine out there were small pads at the bolt locations. Just little pieces of rubber with a hole in it.

I could just use some gasket sealer under those, then...
I was looking for those little clamps and bolts, but it's been awhile since I pulled the tank.

...I have a few more boxes to search through. It was only 85 in the garage yesterday. :)

It's been nice lately....we haven't had the AC on in a week or so.

It was pretty hot Friday and Saturday...~92 outside, but Friday was spent at El Capitan reservoir on the waverunner and Saturday was spent at San Vicente on my buddies boat.

AND even got to work on the bug yesterday!

Great weekend! 8)

So...here's what I'm ordering to get the project moving forward.

Going to rebuild the pedal assy and install the popouts.
While I'm waiting for the order to arrive, I plan to install sound deadener and carpet, as well as finish the gas tank install...IF I can find the hardware.

Can I order the pins that go in the pedal assy to rebuild, from CIP1? or can I reuse the ones I tap out?

Received my order...
Trying to figure out how to replace the gaskets in the popouts without bending the chrome. :?

Rebuilt the pedal assy last night. I just reused the old pin, so hopefully I won't have any problems. I'll pick up a spare to keep in my toolbox in case I ever have a problem with the clutch pedal.

I'll get pics soon. Finished painting about 9pm last night after school.
Next is the hard part...finding the hardware to put it back on and figuring out how to connect it up.
