Thanks Chris. The second one is 1 gallon, I couldn't find any sizes on the first one. I've never bought off eBay before, I'll have to see what I can do on this.

Remember, each of those tubes are stand alone; e.g., butt fitted so the whole cart would not be filled. The two longest tubes are 1" X 2" X 4' X .120 wall or 1 3/4" X 3/4" X 48" (too tired/lazy to do the match); I haven't figured out the capacity but I don't think each one would add up to a gallon or maybe just a gallon.

I found a couple of calculators and if my measurements are correct one 4' tube equals 63 cubic inch = 0.272 727 272 73 gallon [US, liquid] or roughly just over a quart.

No problem, the first is advertised as 1/2 gallon...but you could always throw an additional 1/2 quart fuel filter on I wouldn't have nearly as many completed projects if it weren't for eBay...a lifesaver. Just picked up some BBS 2-piece 17" rims for the Volvo tonight

I've been doing a lot of looking for dimension for the Tecumseh fuel tank and the am I ran into a lot more tanks (mostly on eBay) that could work but the problem I ran into is that the fuel outlets seem to be in the 1/4" size or smaller; it that going to be big enough to support a pair of carbs on a moderately modified VW engine?

I ran into a Honda 17510ZE1020ZA metal fuel tank for a bit more money; again the small fuel line out but one might be able to re-do the tank for a new bung and a return line added. I might go to my local Honda dealer to see if he has one I can look at or even the repair place to see if he has something lying around. I have to talk to them anyway so it would be an opportunity to do both.

1/4" is plenty.
Most big buggy engines use a spun aluminum tank with a 1/4" NPT x 1/4" barb fitting.


Don't know your budget for a tank but this one would work nicely.
Holds one gallon.

Thanks Turbo, I am not sure what the outlet size is but it does look smaller than my fuel tank... as I remember it anyway . I looked at the Jegs (and Summit) tank you posted but the over-all size is bothering me. I went down to Honda and the one I posted 175ZE1020ZA NOW 17510ZE030ZA (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Gx-120-Fu ... 3f23b010ed), which I can have w/in 5 days of ordering it, which is about what shipping would cost as compared to the eBay price. I like the idea of the metal tank when comparing it to a Poly tank as additional things could be done.

Its all Turbo's fault you know; if he hadn't pointed out the starter problem and the exhaust problems I would still be fat dumb and happy... until I put an engine on it. Like everything else, whenever you put something on it reduces the room to put something else on and so it goes, ad-infinitum (To infinity; without or seemingly without limit).

If you guys think the outlet size is OK I will order the tank tomorrow. I want to mount it up high so it will gravity feed and not need the secondary fuel pump.

Again, I am learning a lot. Thanks for the help guys.

17 pages on "An engine run cart build" I think this even beat out Copperbaja and his thread but not Motorbreath, not even close. This has got to be one heck of a engine run cart.

I bit the big one and ordered the Honda tank today. The fuel cap was separate from them. I could have got it cheaper on line but I like to be able to vent locally if something is wrong. It will be here in about 5 days not including a weekend I think.
