I dont know, but I would say that the rings would maybe help a bit with heat transfer?

Ps. Maybe a bit off (this) topic, but any updates on the typ4?

Nah, the spacer rings dont touch the liners if everything is machined ok.

No updates on the type4. New guides are in and seats get cut next week. That will start after the 1200 Challenge.

In fact, this 1200 Challenge gives more fun atm because of the rivalry with the other competitors 😉

Small step further: installed pistons, now waiting for some super duper CNC machined stock size intake valves 8)

They improve flow where it matter most.

Check out the valves on the mighty impressive Cosworth CA engine. This was a low budget engine compared to its competitors but at the same time it had the longest service intervals (350-500 kilometers) and it was also the only one coping with 20000 rpms over a longer period. 305 to 315 hp per litre. It is considered one of the all time best F1 engines.

Interesting! Looks like more of an I-beam rod than an H-beam too. And no oil control ring on the piston?

The rods on the CA engine are rather massive;

And here is a short video of it in action:

Looking good but please get rid of that pulley tensionerer. You want the belt to slip.
