The body looks good!
Just a heads up on the power steering (from experience) make sure to disconnect all the cables from the "brain" while doing any welding on the car. The manufacturer says that is most likely what caused our first one to fail prematurely. Also, make sure to thread-lock the bolts holding the unit to the mounting plate. Other than that, the unit worked awesome!

That metalwork looks superb. Had you done that before or is this a first?

Re: My chenowth 4lwd upgrades
I've done quite a bit of sheet metal work, first time on the buggy stuff though. I still need to grind the welds and do some finishing work. I will start on all that stuff in a month or so.
I have a windshield project coming up soon for the buggy. Gonna tie it in smoothly with the hood.
Also, need your guys opinions... Should I turbo the 2276? Or go Subaru 2.0 turbo? I need more power.

A couple of buddies run 2276 turbos. They are pretty nice but all run on race fuel. I prefer my 2.0 Suby but if you already have the 2276, it would probably be more cost effective than all the work a water pump needs to be swapped in.

You want to drive it or work on it? You'll get power with the turbo'd vw but you'll be chasing more ways to tweak more out of it or you can go with the suby turbo and be done with it.

Re: My chenowth 4lwd upgrades
My 2276 is pretty built and it actually does haul ass, but after all my suspension upgrades I find myself not letting off the throttle on the trails. Lol
OK leather I've been researching and I'm sold on the water pump power plant. But can't decide subie or the sr20det.
Bisquick you have any video out there of your car?

I run a turbo 2276 in mine. It's great, but I'd switch to Suby in a heartbeat if it were more affordable than it is.

made up my mind... Going EJ20 turbo, or Nissan SR20DET. Gonna do some more research first. Maybe go look at a guys car down in San Diego. He has a 4LWD with the Nissan.

Re: My chenowth 4lwd upgrades
Dont know anything about the Nissan, but the Suby being an opposed engine like the VW, really fits well in the existing space. All the different configurations have some different power output. The 2.0 turbo has ok torque and almost 2 strokish mid to top end. The 2.5 NA has good torque and the 2.5 turbo has the best of both worlds. The 2.0 turbo is a great engine for 2 seaters and light 4 seaters.
