HELP with My Garrett Turbo ANYONE? :) please?

I believe the Pontiac used the to3 turbo and was a notoriously bad match for the 301 v8 The Turbpo TA was lucky to pull 7-8 psi boost and that idiotic sequentail lights "gage seld0m made it to the last yellow light on the display a total pig in that particular guise,tho you may be able to adapt it to your vw app.... try the turbo on you car if it runs slow change the a/r.....

It is indeed off a 1980 301 turbo trans am

my 1980 301 turbo trans am.
Im teh second owner of the car..has 30 thou orig miles..100% perfect unrestored condition..and to top it off its a Y84 fisher body special edition, i dont talk about it around here due to the VW only vibe..hell i have a VW tattoo im a VW man..but this is a nice car..the motor is done out..but yes the turbo lights are a joke..and yes only about 7-8PSI due to the miss match to the motor and turbo..the motor is a dog of a V8 thats for sure..mine has lots done to it and u bet ut would only pull a mid 15 on the 1/4
my bug will smoke it

I did a short stint at a Pontiac dealer when those TAs were new 80-81 and it was common practice to take a demo to the track and run it and then hand out biz cards for the dealership try 16.9's at 81mph pure stock they clipped the bird's wings AND other parts.....

BTW I don't think we could have paid people to take our card that night.....

Dan you shoulda hooked some NAWWWSSS to that puppy hehe. This turbo is part of the Garrett "T3" turbo family btw. There are many different sizes of T3 turbine housings and they can be sized to acommodate anything from small 4 cylinder engines to fairly large 6cyls and small V8s like the Poncho 301.

Mike and Co were just starting NOS back then late 70's early 80's .the blue bottle was not a common sight at then time or we would have probably tried it...Good thing the 301 was not a very robust design I hear...
