I just found out today waht one of those pmps cost,I got quotes of 100.00 to 210.00 after I picked myself off the floor I went out and plugged the holes said the hell with it. Ill run an elect. pump. The thing that makes me mad is that my first case choice didnt have that setup for the mech pump and if I had known this prior would have used that case and saved trouble.
At least now I know......... Dennis

I have a 914 2.0L case, it has some sort of machining on the side of the bellhousing but nothing there. could it be possible that mine doesn't have a mech. fuel pump?

It's not on the bellhousing it's near the #1 piston. Mabe you don't have the case for one.

The ones that came with carbs  Usually: AW, GD, CB, 1700, 1800 bus cases. Pretty much anything '74 and earlier VW.

OK, been following this thread and have to ask.

If the fuel pump/boss mount on my '71 411 1.7L t4 case is factory blocked off (fuel injected engine), do I need to worry about any of this pluging oil galley drains?

Should'nt the oil pressure be good without doing anything in this area?

I just finished pulling all the factory pressed in oil galley plugs, drilling, tapping and fitting new anodized aluminum npt plugs. Am I over looking something?

If its an FI case, you don't have to worry about anything. There is no mechanical pump, and no pushrod to activate it.

Its only when people remove the guide in the mech fuel pump cases (carb'd) that you run into this drain issue.
